Introduction to Modern Cryptography

چکیده

Forewords This book contains a set of lecture notes that I wrote for an offering of a " Topics in Cryptography " course at Columbia University, in the Spring 1999. It is not clear what use one can make of these notes. The main purpose was to integrate the treatment of the Goldwasser-Bellare lecture notes with some additional proofs, without getting into the level of rigor of Goldreich's book. I tried to use the concrete security framework as far as possible. This might as well be the first written concrete security presentation of the Goldwasser-Micali cryptosystem. These notes would have not been possible without the help of Oded Goldreich, Salil Vadhan and Moti Yung, who answered a countless number of questions.

An Introduction to Differential Computation Analysis (DCA) on the withe-box cryptography algorithms

Advances in information and communication technologies lead to use of some new devices such as smart phones. The new devices provide more advantages for the adversaries hence with respect to them, one can define with-box cryptography. In this new model of cryptography, designers try to hide the key using as a kind of implementation. The Differential Computation Analysis (DCA) is a side channel ...

Constructing cryptographic definitions

This paper mirrors an invited talk to ISCISC 2011. It is not a conventional paper so much as an essay summarizing thoughts on a little-talked-about subject. My goal is to intermix some introspection about definitions with examples of them, these examples drawn mostly from cryptography. Underpinning our discussion are two themes. The first is that definitions are constructed. They are i...

Security Models and Reasoning about Security

The primary goal of this class is to bring students to a level where they understand enough about cryptography to use it intelligently, while gaining some insight into how cryptographic operations work. However, it is not a cryptography class in the sense of learning the science of cryptography, and the Stallings book is similarly focused and does not discuss the science of cryptography. The pu...

Introduction to Modern Cryptography

This book is a comprehensive, rigorous introduction to what the authors name “Modern” Cryptography, or in other words, the science — rather than the art — of cryptography, relying on: concrete definitions of security; formal, precise, as-few-as-possible assumptions; and rigorous proofs of security. In itself, this definition-based structure represents a novel approach to how cryptography is tau...

A Cryptography Primer: Secrets and Promises

This accessible introduction for undergraduates explains the cryptographic protocols for achieving privacy of communication and the use of digital signatures for certifying the validity, integrity, and origin of a message, document, or program. Rather than offering a how-to on configuring Web browsers and e-mail programs, the author provides a guide to the principles and elementary mathematics ...
